Common causes
- Electric dryer receiving only part of the required power
- Open heating element or thermal safety device

Start with airflow
Clean the lint screen and check the exterior vent while the dryer runs. Weak airflow, overheating, or a burning smell should be addressed promptly. Do not bypass thermal fuses or safety controls.
